Breed:

Most prominently Snow Leopard and Chausie, with traces of Iriomote, Somali, American Curl, and Sokoke.

Fur:

The base color of Kanae's fur is a soft, pale brown color, dorado. Her fur is crossed with a light, grainy brown color. The lighter color covers her ears, and "branches" out from her tail tip. From her muzzle, it reaches down her chest all the way to the base of her tail, and stretches down her front legs, excluding a section on the very front part of the legs. On her front legs, the grainy brown fur covers both paws as well. Grainy brown spots are concentrated on the ridge of her back, losing form and accumulating less the further away from the ridge of her back. It also lines her eyes. On her tail, white "branches" accompany the grainy brown ones, and faint heather orbs top the white and grainy brown branches. White fur also appears to stream down from her eyes, looking something like raindrops sliding down a window. Darker brown fur ridges her muzzle, the upper half of her tail, up from the bottom of her front paws, and is splotched on her back. Her scleras are a pale blue color, spindle, and her irises are an elegant mariner blue. Although she is tall, her frame is not as strong as it appears. Her bones are somewhat brittle, being thin and her frame wiry. Her long legs do not particularly lack the average strength, but they also aren't the most muscular or sturdy.

Scars:

Although Kanae has fought in many a battle, she has garnered no especially notable scars. Scratches, old and new, no doubt lurk upon her skin, but all are hidden thanks to her lush, semi-long fur.

Accessories:

 None thus far.

{ Personality }

[ World-weary | Introverted | Obdurate | Work-oriented | Eloquent | Sophisticated | Critical ]

{ :bulletred: } || WORLD-WEARY;; Kanae feels fatigue from the life of the world, and especially material pleasures. The "little things" that are spoken of so highly, those small details that supposedly make living more purposeful? They are nearly incomprehensible to her, she who has been through emotional battles one after another. Over the course of her life, her feelings have been chiseled away at until only those that she was most partial to remained. Out of these, happiness and optimism seem to be absent, present only in small doses.

{ :bulletred: } || INTROVERTED;; Nowadays, Kanae has a tendency to be predominantly concerned with and interested in her own interests, thoughts, and feelings. Rarely does she express herself upfront, though she will give voice to her opinions if she feels the need to or is ruffled to the point of doing so. The exception to this rule applies to those whom has taken a specific liking to for any reason, or is inclined to associate with, such as a pupil or authority figure.

{ :bulletred: } || OBDURATE;; Kanae is not easily moved by feelings or supplication. In the face of displeasure or opposition, it is typical of her to remain largely nonreactive. While it may seem that she is "impervious to persuasion", that is not exactly the whole truth. She understands the overwhelming majority of arguments put against hers; she, for the most part, is simply not particularly responsive or susceptible to the demands of the public. This trait partially stems from her introversion.

{ :bulletgreen:/:bulletred: } || WORK-ORIENTED;; As previously hinted at, Kanae is not very 'involved' in the social aspects of life. Since much of society revolves around feelings and opinions on matters, and Kanae doesn't actively participate in the sharing of her perspective, Kanae can feel out of touch with others at times. Granted, this comes across as doubt to her, not necessarily a feeling of being 'excluded' as it were. Though, when it comes to performance, Kanae flourishes. Highly productive and successful when it comes to her duties as a Paladin, her esteem in the workplace could possibly make her one to envy, as long as her social weaknesses can be looked past.

{ :bulletgreen: } || ELOQUENT;; Rather than let her simple emotions dictate her, Kanae directs herself with fluency and persuasiveness. She moves and speaks with a somewhat peculiar essence of fluidity, her words picked carefully and her actions thought out with just as much forethought. These things call for tact, in her eyes, and she will typically mull things over in her mind before saying or doing anything. This can result in doubting herself when time is of the essence, however, and nerves can get to her since a mistake can mean failure at times.

{ :bulletgreen: } || SOPHISTICATED;; Kanae has a refined knowledge of the ways of the world, cultivated through her wide experience. Partially due to this, she has grown to be quite intellectually appealing, aware of an array of things that some cats might not be partial to. If not for her difficulties connecting with others, she may have found it easy to identify with them. But, highly complicated and developed, it is unlikely that she could be accurately analyzed with any sort of ease in return.

{ :bulletgreen: } || CRITICAL;; Kanae often finds herself being inclined to look for and point out faults and defects in others. However, she makes quite an effort to see a thing clearly and truly in order to judge it fairly. This trait likely sprouted from her high standards for herself, inspired by the success she has observed in the cats around her, as well as the struggles that she faces regarding her physique.

{ Backstory }

Pre-Birth || About 5 years ago, the paths of two divergent beings clashed on the battlefield, one a compact silver, gray, and tan she-cat, and the other a russet shaded tom with light grayish-tan splotches splashed over the darker fur of his pelt. They were at a stalemate, neither side able to overcome the other; the female’s luminous red-orange pathing field pressing against the opposing male’s field of bright magenta. Each was struggling to maintain the strength of their fields, losing ounces of precious energy by the second. Adjacent to them stood a pale, scrawny human—a female child—ensnared in a hopeless trance cast upon her by the powers of the two Culions. This was the event that ultimately began Kanae’s story, the thing that eventually resulted in her birth. Chandra, the silver she-cat, hissed, “I’m not going to forfeit, Kukiril! You may as well!”

“Never.” The tom, Ikki, retorted levelly. “And the fact that you’re trying to convince me to give up only tells me that you’re starting to lose control of your path powers.” Chandra clenched her teeth, frustrated. How could this cat see through her so well? Was she just too predictable?
Do I give up? How can I win? If it were to be a draw, what would happen to the human?
Chandra’s amber gaze darted back to the frail figure that was trapped between her and the Kukiril tom, narrowed in condescension. She scowled, turning her blazing eyes back to her opponent.

“You are blind to their animosity, Kukiril.”

“And you, my dear, are ignorant to their rights.”

The leopard-patterned she-cat’s furious gaze burned into the russet tom’s pelt. “They lost their rights when they turned on us!” In response to this, the russet-shaded tom turned his back. He took in a deep breath, calming the uneasiness that had been brewing within his chest.

“If we never give them a chance, then why would they give us one?" Iiki called softly, a light breeze stirring the air.

Chandra let out a wordless gasp. For a moment, the only sounds to be heard between the two of them was the moan of the wind, and the faint hum of energy that radiated from their paths. But alas, this dispute was not over. “Who ever told you that they wanted the humans to give them a chance, Kukiril?” She chided, tone laced with venom.

Iiki blinked, slowly turning back to face the silver-furred Paladin. “No one.” He told her quietly, his bright, lime-green eyes gazed at the fiery orange ones of Chandra expectantly, not an ounce of judgment to be seen in their emerald depths. The leopard-spotted Paladin felt her drive weakening, her path slowly fading.

“I don’t understand you.” The silver-furred she-cat breathed in frustration.

“You don’t have to.”

That was it. There was silence enough for one to be able to hear a pin drop as Chandra let go of her waning path-find. Luminous magenta lit up the space in front of her, engulfing the scrawny human she’d been trying so hard to do away with. The she-cat felt her chest tighten up and her throat clench as the human child began to glow the color of the Kukiril’s path. A pathway sprang up from the ground, its marvelous light reflecting in the eyes of both Culions. As the human reached for it, Chandra tensed.

She did nothing as the child stepped into the light. She watched sadly as the doorway began to dissipate, reflecting rays of bright magenta all over the clearing before finally shattering into hundreds of orbs of pink light, which soon faded as well, turning the area back to the gray light of dawn.

“A right undeserved,” the Sanguis breathed darkly, eyes narrowed as she stared at the place where the door had previously been. But as she looked to the Kukiril, her gaze softened for some reason. And when he looked back at her with those emerald eyes, she felt her pelt grow hot.

Kittenhood || Kanae was the only kitten in her litter. As far as looks, she took after her father, Iiki, more than her mother, Chandra. It took quite some time before her personality became apparent. With her mother in the Sanguis and her father in the Kukiril, she wasn’t able to see both of them all the time. She of course stayed with her mother in the Sanguis (at least in her younger days), and that was where she acquired many of her kithood friends. She was a well-behaved kitten, though not without her mischievous adventures and, although occasional, devilish tricks.

Tragedy || When Kanae was about five months old, her father passed away. She had never really known him, but it did sting to hear the news. Her life was largely unaffected by his death, but unlike hers, Chandra's took a turn for a worse. Despite having for the most part stopped interacting with Iiki on a daily basis since Kanae was born, Chandra was devastated by his death. Kanae was never told how he died, but not long after, Chandra passed away as well. But on the topic of her death, too, Kanae was again left in the dark.

Riichi || Kanae met many new Sanguis cats more personally after she became a Tyro, but one in particular stood out the most: a handsome leopard-furred tom named Riichi. He was a few months older than Kanae, but she only looked up to him. He was a fine young Culion, and, despite being a Sanguis, he wasn't so harsh. When Riichi became a Paladin, he took Kanae under his wing, so to speak, and Kanae developed a very close bond with him.

Another Loss || Just as quickly as Kanae had grown attached to Riichi, she was ripped apart from him. Kanae was about a year old when she and Riichi became mates. However, before they could attempt to start a family, Riichi was killed in an incident between two pathers—Sanguis and Kukiril, to be exact.

Training || When she faced the news of Riichi's death, Kanae's already-sore heart was ripped open, and she withdrew into herself. She focused all of her time and energy towards training, training her body, her mind, and her pathing powers—which, indeed, did come to her within a week of Riichi's death. When she could no longer take the pain of the memories that accompanied her birth-alliance, she left, dedicating herself to achieving neutrality regarding her path powers. She eventually was able to become part of the Ray-Pathers alliance.

Torin || Kanae met a Kukiril tom named Torin about three months after Riichi's death. She had long since started an effort to turn her mind away from the tragedy, but something about him just... Reminder her of him. Of Riichi. And, more importantly, of the way she felt for him. She didn't understand at first, but eventually she did. Torin made her happy.

Motherhood || It took a while, but Kanae eventually became expectant with Torin's kits. When Kanae gave birth to them; two healthy toms, named Teiin and Raiit in the style of his brother's and Kanae's father's names. Torin took Teiin to live with him in the Kukiril, while Kanae kept Raiit with her. However, Torin didn't live to his sons grow up. Didn't live to help her raise them into the fine adults they were sure to be. He passed away in a pathing incident, just like Riichi—who had actually been Torin's brother. It seemed that all the cats Kanae grew close to passed away.

Today || Today, Kanae has suffered through all of this. But she hasn't given up. Just, perhaps, grown numb to the pains of life... And perhaps the rewards as well.

The gray-tabby-and-white adolescent grinned. That’s more like it. He thought darkly, placing his right paw a step closer to the other tom. “I think it goes without saying that we must certainly find out who is superior now, healer. ” For a moment as he bent his neck, pale steel-blue eyes met the mixed green and yellow ones of the smaller tom’s, and time seemed to slow as the Blue-Green Air bunched his shoulders and exploded into action. His form was but a blur as he moved towards the brown-pelted Blue-Light, duo-chromatic tattoo lighting up in a flash, rapidly reaching his eyes and causing them to glow as well as he drew upon the electrical energy harnessed within his compact and muscular frame. An eager growl tore loose from his throat as he burst upon the Light-Triber, using his heavier body weight to take him down and pin him. The Blue-Green Air’s claws were sheathed, yet as long as they were, their needle-sharp tips still poked through, piercing the layer of fur that covered the younger tom’s skin. Once more, he glared into the mismatched eyes of the Blue-Light, scorn clear in his own pale, slitted gaze. “Enjoy your pathetic profession, huh? Enjoy being inferior? If you used to be a sharp fighter, you’ve certainly lost your touch, kid.” He forced a bit more weight onto the dark apprentice, clenching his paw. “I regrettably do not have the patience to deal with you more slowly.” Farox told the healer contemptuously before summoning an impressive spark just a whisker away from the younger tom. “Have a little respect for your superiors, Blue-Light.” the Crafter taunted, doing nothing to interject as the spark went along its inevitable path.
